Introduction
Pure Klass Cleaning is committed to ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive work environment. This policy outlines our stance on the use of drugs and alcohol within the workplace and the measures we take to address these issues.


Policy Statement
We strictly prohibit the use, possession, distribution, or sale of illegal drugs, and the misuse of alcohol on company premises, client premises or while conducting company business.

 

Objectives
•    To comply with legal obligations and safety requirements.
•    To minimise workplace risks associated with drugs and alcohol.
•    To support employees facing substance misuse issues.

 

Definitions
•    Drugs: Include illegal substances, prescribed medication, over-the-counter drugs, and solvents that could impair an individual’s ability to work safely and effectively.
•    Alcohol Misuse: Refers to consuming alcohol in a way that negatively affects the workplace environment or personal job performance.


Legal Framework
•    Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation.
•    Adhere to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, which categorises controlled substances.


Employee Responsibilities
•    Must not report to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
•    Must notify management of any prescribed medication that may affect their ability to work.


Management Responsibilities
•    Ensure effective implementation of this policy.
•    Provide support and resources for employees affected by drug or alcohol problems.


Education and Training
•    Provide education on the effects of drugs and alcohol.
•    Train managers to recognise signs of substance misuse and take appropriate action.


Support for Employees
•    Offer confidential support for employees struggling with substance misuse.
•    Provide access to counseling services or treatment programs.


Disciplinary Action
•    Address violations of this policy through the company’s disciplinary procedures.
•    Take necessary action up to and including termination of employment for serious breaches.


Monitoring and Review
•    Regularly review this policy to ensure its effectiveness.
•    Update the policy as required to reflect changes in law and best practices.
